My baby wakes up crying all the time

My baby wakes up crying all the time

If you are regularly greeted with your baby crying as soon as he or she wakes up, it is not pleasant. Ideally, you would prefer to be greeted by a happy, rested baby. But rest assured, there are ways to deal with this situation.

In this blog, we give you advice for learning to deal with a crying baby upon waking.

Understand your baby's needs

It is important to understand that crying is your baby's way of communicating. Crying upon waking can have several reasons, such as hunger, discomfort, fatigue or just a need for attention.

Don't go "saving" your baby right away, but take the time to understand your baby's needs.

Also look at his rhythm for this, this often provides a good clue (how long did he sleep, when was his last feeding?). Once you understand what is going on, you can respond responsively.

Create a peaceful sleep environment

A quiet environment can help your baby wake up more calmly. Provide a quiet sleep environment with subdued light and minimal distractions. Avoid sudden noises or bright lights, especially during your baby's awakening.

At bedtime, use a set bedtime ritual

With a fixed sleeping place and put your baby awake in his crib. This way your baby understands what is coming, his sleeping place feels familiar and he does not "suddenly" wake up in a different environment.

How the Piko can help

The Piko provides a peaceful sleep environment that you can use anytime, anywhere. In this way, the Piko becomes your baby's permanent sleeping place, giving your little one predictability and a sense of security.

In addition, the Piko App gives you appropriate advice that helps you find a rhythm that suits your baby. With a predictable rhythm, it is easier to understand why your child cries and you can respond responsively.
